In the quiet village of Ban Kao, Kanchanaburi, a small house fills with the sounds of laughter, eager voices, and the alphabet every evening at 5:00 PM. This is the home of Nok Krobkhongwong, a woman whose profound faith and love for her community are outshining her own deep personal tragedy.
Just last year, in November, Nok’s world was shattered. Her husband, Dong, was tragically killed in a car accident when his vehicle was struck by a truck in Saraburi. He left behind a grieving widow and six children—the youngest of whom is now just 11 months old.
In the wake of such a devastating loss, many would have broken. Instead, Nok chose to carry the torch.
Determined to continue the missionary work she and Dong had dedicated their lives to, Nok opened her doors to the village. Despite having very little for her own family and navigating life as a single mother of six, she transformed her modest home into the unofficial English Center of Ban Kao.
Every afternoon after school, the children of the village gather at her house. Nok offers completely free English lessons, breaking down language barriers for children who might otherwise never have the opportunity to learn it. But she teaches them more than just vocabulary and grammar; she also shares stories of Jesus, pouring love, hope, and faith into their young hearts.
"She gives everything she has to our children, even when she has so little herself," one local parent shared. "Seeing our kids learn English and grow into good people through Mrs. Nok's help is a true blessing."
What started as a small gathering has blossomed into a bustling daily classroom. Parents across the village are filled with gratitude, watching their children thrive under Nok's guidance.
Right now, Nok’s house is packed with eager young minds every day, but her vision doesn't stop here. With a hopeful heart, Nok and her family continue to pray that even more children will find their way to her doorstep—not just to learn a new language, but to discover the love of God.
Nok Krobkhongwong is proof that even in our darkest seasons, we can still choose to be a light for others.
